校長特設卓越表現/成就獎

工業中心與理大電機工程學系共同參與的入境事務處自助車輛檢查系統項目(車輛e-道出入境檢查系統)去年底獲理大頒發「校長特設卓越表現/成就獎」,而中心另一位工程師陳大為博士亦在同一頒獎典禮中榮獲「學院特設非教學人員傑出表現/成就獎」。

學術強項領域項目獲理大嘉許

工業中心與設計學院共同發展的「透過產品和流程設計,啟發創意,推動發明 ── 嶄新的研習工廠」項目在近期的評審中再次獲得理大學術強項領域委員會的認同和嘉許。委員會並通過該項目由二零零七年至零九年底期間,獲繼續認可為理大學術強項領域之一。委員會希望工業中心和設計學院繼續推動和鼓勵學生參與多元化的工業培訓、工業項目及顧問服務。

The Automatic Vehicle Clearance System (Vehicle e-Channel for Immigration Clearance) designed and developed by the Industrial Centre in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Analogue Group and ATAL Technologies and other companies was awarded the Most Valuable Consultancy Project in the 10th Anniversary Celebration of PolyU Technology & Consultancy Co. Ltd. (PTeC) and Awards Presentation Ceremony. Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Ltd nominated by the Industrial Centre was also awarded the Most Valuable Partner in the same occasion.

二零零三年,工業中心夥拍理大電機工程學系、安樂創新科技有限公司和多間本地著名機構,成功奪得入境事務處的「旅客及車輛司機自助出入境檢查系統」(車輛e-道出入境檢查系統)項目合約,為香港出入境檢查服務寫上新的一頁。

Automatic Vehicle Clearance System
(e-Channel)

The Industrial Centre in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), ATAL Technologies Ltd (ATAL) and a number of renowned companies successfully won a tender project on Automated Vehicle Clearance System (AVCS) and Automated Passenger Clearance System (APCS) (e-Channel) in 2003, which marks a new page of the Hong Kong border clearing system.

 

應用科研產品「偽件檢測儀」為工業中心摘下第二枚獎項。在今年一月舉行的二零零六年度傑出專業服務及創新獎頒獎典禮上,「偽件檢測儀」獲理大科技及顧問有限公司頒發國際獎,這是該項目自零五年在北京舉行的第十五屆全國發明展中獲頒發金獎後獲得的第二個獎項。


「偽件檢測儀」由工業中心及香港特區政府入境事務處攜手合作研製,透過多種不同頻率之電磁波,檢驗個別重要文件的防偽特徵,其中包括紫外光、可見光譜及紅外線。透過該檢測儀,便可使用適當的光譜,即時檢驗文件及掃描存檔,分辨文件中個別不同墨水,以及以紫外光顯現螢光特徵。由於該檢測儀體積細小,易於攜帶,而且集多用途和功能於一身,故對入境事務處執法人員分辨旅遊證件的真偽幫助很大。工業中心的研究小組目前正研究擴大該儀器的應用範圍,包括驗證紙幣、文件簽名、藝術品等。

The Forged Document Detector (FDD) handed its second award to the Centre. At the PTeCs Outstanding Professional Services and Innovation Awards Presentation Ceremony 2006 held in January 2007, the device was awarded the years International Award. This is already the second award won for the innovative device, following the gold medal received in the 15th China Invention Expo held in Beijing in 2005.

香港航空發動機維修服務有限公司


工業中心在過去短短數年間與香港航空發動機維修服務有限公司迅速建立起密切的伙伴關係,合作範圍包括提供工業培訓、顧問服務和工業項目合作。 香港航空發動機維修服務有限公司擁有超過六百名員工以及投資港幣一億二千萬元的廠房,主要提供航空發動機維修服務。工業中心在過去數年為該公司的年輕培訓生提供工業培訓課程,以強化他們的實踐能力、動手能力、思考能力、團隊精神等,僅僅在過去三年,工業中心已經為該公司提供了五次培訓課程,由於效果一直都十分理想,因此預計在未來仍會有類似課程提供。

Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Ltd (HAESL)

The Industrial Centre has established close collaboration with Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Ltd (HAESL) for the past few years. Since 2003, HAESL has appointed the Industrial Centre to provide industrial training for their new trainee. For the past three years, five training courses have been conducted. The training aims at improving their practical skills, technology appreciation as well as their team building and problem solving skills. The feedback is very positive both from the trainees and HAESL. A few more courses are therefore anticipated by both parties in the coming years.

 

工業中心為視訊系統有限公司設計的Plasma Enhancer在香港工業總會舉辦的香港工商業獎消費產品設計2005中,榮獲2005香港工商業獎:消費產品設計大獎。該產品在零五年美國拉斯維加斯舉行的全球最大型的消費電子展覽中首次展示時,亦榮獲得大會頒發2005年創新設計及工程大獎。 視科系統有限公司在二零零四年委托工業中心為其新開發之高階視訊優化器Plasma Enhancer作外型及形像設計。產品以簡約風格設計而成,以配合現代家居設計。它可獨立以室內裝飾般展現於家居,或橫置於其他家居影音產品上。


The Plasma Enahancer developed by Pixel Magic Systems Limited with industrial design inputs from Industrial Centre was recently awarded the Consumer Product Design Award in the 2005 Hong Kong Awards for Industries. The Plasma Enhancer was also awarded the Design & Engineering Showcase Award 2005 in the Innovations International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas in January 2005.
Commissioned by Pixel Magic System Ltd., the Industrial Centre developed the image and styling design for their hi-end consumer level AV product Plasma Enhancer. The final design employs a minimalist style which suits modern interior design well. It can stand out as a decorative object or can fit well with other AV products when stacked horizontally.

 

 

 

Temasek Polytechnic of Singapore recently sent a Big Thank You - a Certificate of Appreciation - to the IC in recognition of the Centres valuable support and contribution to its Student Internship Programme (SIP).

 

 

 

 




In recognition of the ICs outstanding support for and assistance to this project, the Founders of the INTEGER Hong Kong Pavilion presented a Certificate of Recognition to the IC in 2003.

 

 

 

 

The IC's 'Learning Factory' concept was cited by APEC as an "exemplary model for training in industrial technology".

 

 

 

 

"The Most Innovative Project Award" in the electionof "Ten Engineering Wonders in Hong Kong", organized by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and the Science Museum.

 

 

 

 

 

 

MARS ROCK CORER, Project received the Gold Medal award in Ariation Industry category at EUREKA International Inventions EXPO in Brussels.

 

 

"1010 Award for Innovation" in the "2000 Leader of the Year" competition organized by CNBC, Sing Tao Daily and Hong Kong iMail.

 

 

 

Certificate of Merit in Consumer Product Design: "1997 Hong Kong Awards for Industry" organized by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries.

 

 

 

 

One staff member of the IC received the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award, the Fellowship of IIE Award (the first such honour to be bestowed upon a non-American) and the Outstanding IE Award.

 

 

 

Other Awards:

A POSH project received one of the "Five Best Projects Awards" from the Occupational Safety and Health Council, Hong Kong.

A postgraduate doctoral student project received the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship Award in 2000.

Three undergraduate final year student projects were awarded First, Second and Third Prizes in the "Best Paper on Materials" competition organized by HKIE.
