This course is an appreciation course designed for site engineers, safety officers, site supervisory staff and scaffolders to equip with the necessary knowledge and basic skills, to select, erect and dismantle metal scaffolds safely. Local regulations and codes of practice related to metal scaffolding and work platform safety will also be covered.

For Whom

Site engineers, Safety officers, Site Supervisors, Scaffolders or Contractors of the construction and related industry.

Prerequisites: Some previous knowledge of scaffolds is desired.

Course Outline

Lectures

Overview of legislative provisions on metal scaffolding

Understanding of codes of practice on safe use of metal scaffolding

Introduction to different types of metal scaffolding and mobile elevated work platforms

Design principles of metal scaffolding

Safe working procedures in metal scaffolding installation and safe use of mobile elevated work platforms

Identification of potential hazards and accident prevention

Safety measures & use of personal protective equipment

Basic theory on falsework structures and design

Cases studies on failure of metal scaffolding and falsework

Hand-on Practice

Metal scaffold installation

Stability check of metal scaffold

Metal scaffold dismantling

Demonstration of safe use of mobile elevated work platforms

2 to 3 days (9:00 am - 5:00 pm); tentatively on the 1st three Saturdays of each month or to be announced

HK$2,400 for 3-day course: Metal Scaffolding Course for Access Tower, Work Platform including Mobile Elevated Type and Falsework

Certificate:

Candidates who have successfully completed the course will be issued:

"Certificate of Attainment in Metal Scaffolding Course for Access Tower and Work Platform including Mobile Elevated type (Light‑Weight Frame & Tubular Scaffold)" for a 2-day course;

or

"Certificate of Attainment in Metal Scaffolding Course for Access Tower, Work Platform including Mobile Elevated type and Falsework (Light‑Weight Frame & Tubular Scaffold)" for a 3-day course
