Programme Aim
This advanced study is the top-up course
designed specifically for the candidates
who have successfully completed the
safety officer training course
accredited by the Labour Department (LD)
under the Factories and Industrial
Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety
Supervisors) Regulations so that they
have the opportunity to further their
study to achieve the IOSH Graduate
membership (Grad IOSH) which is a grade
of membership showing members have met
the academic requirements for Chartered
membership.

9 months part time (170 contact hours)

Programme Structure and Contents
To be eligible for the Certificate of
Attainment, students shall satisfy all
the following conditions:
i) attendance of 70% or above of all
the individual subject classes; and
ii) successfully completion of all the
subjects below:

System Safety Analysis and Auditing
-
Occupational Health &
Ergonomics
-
Behavioural Safety and Risk Management
-
Application-oriented Project
Exemption
Students
may be exempted from taking any required
subjects if they have successfully
completed similar subjects previously in
another programme, e.g. holders of the
Certificate of Attainment in
Occupational Safety and Health organised
by IC are eligible to apply for
exemption from the module "Behavioural
Safety and Risk Management".
Medium of Instruction
English, supplemented by Cantonese. Course
materials and assessments are in
English.
Professional Recognition
Successful completion of this ‘Certificate of Attainment’
meets the academic requirements for
Chartered membership of IOSH.
Facilities
Students may use PolyU's library
facilities and get authorised entry to
the programme's
e-learning website.
Minimum Entrance Requirements
i. Certificate holders of safety officer training
accredited by the Labour Department (LD)
under the Factories and Industrial
Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety
Supervisors) Regulations, or
ii.
Registered Safety Officers (under the
LD’s registration) or
iii.
Technician members of IOSH.
