Academic Procedures10.1 ExtensionsExtensions WILL ONLY be granted in cases of illnesses or misadventure. All applications for extensions should be made at least one week prior to the due date. All applications should be made to the Course Director via SPEED of PolyU. 10.2 Assessmentsa) Required Coursework Performance: Students are required to pass all assignments to be eligible to attain a pass for the unit. b) Format of Coursework Submission: As a minimum we expect assignments to be typed or word processed. The formatting should be in 1½ or doubled spaced with a minimum of 3cm margins. All students should submit their assignments with a standard cover sheet. c) Referencing System for Assignments The current system used for assignments is the HARVARD REFERENCE SYSTEM. As many students have problems correctly referencing their assignments, a guide is included at the end of this handbook on how to reference. d) Rules on Cheating/Plagiarism/Collusion Cheating, plagiarism and collusion are viewed as serious offences and are dealt with under the authority of the University of Western Sydney Academic Rules and the University of Western Sydney By-Law. e) Grading The following grades may be awarded for assignments and units within this course:
10.3 ReassessmentsReassessments are granted at the discretion of the unit co-ordinator. Reassessment may ONLY be granted for only one assignment per unit. Assignments that have been reassessed and are of a standard to pass will be given a P (50%). Reassessments will not be granted for assignments that have already received a pass grade or higher.
10.4 Absence from WorkshopAttendance at workshops is COMPULSORY. If you miss the workshop because of illness or misadventure, you have two options: 1. You will need to apply to the Course Director via SPEED who will then submit your application to the registrar of UWS for a temporary grade of 'I'. You will finish the unit the next time it is offered. 2. You can apply through the Course Director via SPEED to withdraw without academic penalty from the unit. Your fees will not normally be refunded.
10.5 Withdrawal from UnitStudents may apply to withdraw from a unit within the first 4 weeks since the commencement of the term. There will be no academic penalty, but no refund of fees will be made. All such applications should be directed to School of Professional Education and Executive Development
