| Abstract | An industrial accident resulting a serious injury to a warehouse worker happened at a temporary warehouse in Hong Kong. This accident raised the management concern of an international company. The Author was invited by the company to study the transportation operation at a temporary warehouse and to prepare this report in order to enhance the safety management of similar operations. The scope of the study is on the existing safety management practice of the most hazardous operation - fork-lift truck operations at a temporary warehouse. The following methodology was adopted: (1) The physical condition of the warehouse was investigated to identify any hazardous condition associated with fork-lift truck operations. (2) Energy control concept and the trade practice were referred in order to eliminate or reduce the identified hazards reasonably. (3) Existing safety management practice for warehouse operation was evaluated against the general duties of a proprietor with respect to health and safety at work. | ||||
