Computer Training Module

TM 3003 - Basic Scientific Computing

This module provides a comprehensive coverage for latest computing technology in engineering and science. It complements theoretical learning by providing practical knowledge in applying latest scientific technology in the research, design, and development. On completion of the module, students should be able to:

  • Compute basic scientific calculations, analysis, visualization, and algorithm developments.
  • Use the visualization and image processing tools.
  • Use the algorithm prototyping and development tools.
  • Construct model-based design of control systems, from analysis of algorithm to modelling and simulation, rapid prototyping, and code generation for embedded system

On completion of the module, students should be able to use Matlab in solving mathematical problems, performing data analysis and exploration, creating plots and simulation, constructing M-file program and graphics user interface, data communication via other applications and applying MathCAD in basic engineering applications.
