Make it work!

Six students of PolyU’s Department of Mechanical Engineering are working hard to get ready their Intelligent Windmill Field Control Demonstration System for an national electric automation competition to be held in Tianjin, China in next week. They will be competing with more than 50 student teams coming from different universities and colleges on the Chinese Mainland for the “Mitsubishi Electric Automation Cup”. The Intelligent Windmill Field Control Demonstration System is a project work of the students undertaken at the IC during the summer of 2010/11. So long, farewell!

Time flies. The two-week training for the BIT (Beijing Institute of Technology) students completed on Friday, 29 July. The students were so excited to demonstrate the outcome of their group work effort – Personal Transportation Device at PolyU campus to their mentor. The trip to Hong Kong means a lot to them. Academically, they were given the opportunity to go through different technical workshops at the IC and work as a team. Students’ outstanding performance honoured

  Two groups of Mechanical Engineering students were nominated by the IC to receive this year’s Bosch Rexroth Scholarships, each worth of RMB10,000 for their outstanding performance demonstrated in their group project work. A project presentation and sharing session was arranged for the students to meet with Mr Sunny Lee, General Business Unit Sales Manager, Pneumatic, Bosch Rexroth China on Friday, 22 July. Mr Lee also took the opportunity to present the RMB10,000 scholarship cheque to the two student groups in the presence of Dr Stephen O’Brien, Director of IC. Let’s go “camping”

It’s summer. It’s hot. So what is the best thing to do now? Go camping. Yes. Camping. Thousands of local secondary school students are spending their splendid summer on a variety of activities. One of the hottest summer activities is to go camping – not in a field but somewhere in the city centre – PolyU campus and hostel at Hung Hom. A “hot” experience for BIT students

Students of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) are enjoying the hands-on practical training delivered by the IC currently. The BIT students started their training on Monday, 18 July. The training will last for 2 weeks and they will learn and experience different engineering processes and applications at different IC workshops. In addition to the enjoyable learning and experience, students are also expected to complete a group project – Personal Transportation Device. Dr McMahon of UCEAP visiting IC

Dr Mary E. McMahon, Regional Director, Asia & Africa, Education Abroad Program of University of California (UCEAP) paid a visit to the PolyU and IC today (Mon, 11 July 2011). The University of California and PolyU are currently discussing on the establishment of student exchange agreement between the two parties.
