IC staff members are working on last minute preparation for a really challenging and demanding competition – Hong Kong 24-Hour Charity Pedal Kart Grand Prix organized by the Hong Kong Round Table. The race will be held on 11 and 12 February 2012 at Victoria Park, Hong Kong.
The Pedal Grand Prix is a 24-hour race comprising a number of classes of kart. Each participating team pedals in relays for 24 hours and is responsible for raising funds for charities. Teams from Hong Kong’s biggest companies, schools, associations and institutions compete with each other for a range of prizes including most money raised, best turned out kart, engineering excellence, best all-around kart, most number of laps and so on. The race is not just a big challenge to the pedalling participants, as each participating team has to bring their own pedal kart which has to comply fully with the requirements set by the organiser. As a backup measure, each participating team also has its own support team to provide all necessary technical support for the pedal kart in case of a breakdown or other accidents.
This year, IC will be sending two teams to participate in the race. Two specially designed pedal karts will be adopted and the final preparation work is being undertaken by staff at the workshop.
