It’s FUN!

  Around 60 staff and students explored IC’s interesting technologies and facilities during the IC Fun Tour held on yesterday (Thursday, 21 March). They were introduced to more than 10 technical workshops and various demonstrations on facilities and technologies. Commonly known technologies and engineering processes such as 3D Printing, CAM, PCM, etc. were introduced, explained and demonstrated to participants of various background and disciplines. Although some engineering technologies and processes are not easy to understand, participants still find them amazing as they were able to see the processes and touch some of the final outcomes and products. IC Fun Tour is back!

The coming IC Fun Tour is scheduled on Thursday, 21 March 2013, from 2.30 – 4.00 pm. If you haven’t been to IC before or know us just vaguely, here is a good opportunity to explore or re-explore us. Come and join our fun tour, learn more on our services, facilities and how they can help realizing your study, research or work. All PolyU staff members and students are welcome to join. Hope you have fun!

The second IC Fun Tour was successfully completed on this afternoon (Friday, 11 May 2012), with around 20 staff members and students from 10 different departments, offices and faculty participated in it. Guided by experienced IC staff members, participants visited many technical workshops and saw different interesting demonstrations such as the machining of small brass chess and laser cutting of decorative acrylic items. The visit and demonstration not only widened the engineering knowledge of participants but also increased their understanding on the use and application of different technologies and processes in their disciplines and daily lives. MIT Provost visits IC

Visit of Boeing

Accompanied by PolyU’s Vice President (Research & Development) Professor Alex Wai, Mr Al Bryant, Vice President (Research & Technology) (left, second) paid a visit to PolyU IC this morning (Wednesday, 10 August). In the 3-hour visit Mr Al Bryant was introduced to most of the Centre’s technical workshops, facilities and student projects. PolyU President Professor Timothy Tong also had a short meeting with Mr Al Bryant to explore on any collaboration possibilities.

It’s summer. It’s hot. So what is the best thing to do now? Go camping. Yes. Camping. Thousands of local secondary school students are spending their splendid summer on a variety of activities. One of the hottest summer activities is to go camping – not in a field but somewhere in the city centre – PolyU campus and hostel at Hung Hom. It’s Fun!

A group of staff and student joined the IC Fun Tour held on Thursday, 26 May. They visited most of the IC technical workshops and saw some interesting demonstration on the facilities and technologies. Coming from different departments with different academic backgrounds, they all shared the same feeling after the tour: it’s interesting and eye-opening! After all, engineering can be fascinating and interesting to all of us in a certain way. We look forward to organizing the next Fun Tour soon!
